Phobia????

A phobia is a constant fear of a specific stimulus object or situation. Phobia comes from Greek meaning fear or dread. This is more than a simple fear, or afraid. This would be completely terrified stimulus. When presented with a phobia problem from a client, I always start by finding if it is a fear they have, or a phobia. If their problem is spiders for example, then they can imagine themselves holding a spider in their hand if they are rewarded with £ 100? What about 500 pounds, and so on. If they can keep the spider for a large amount of money, even just for a few seconds, they have a phobia, but rather a fear. Person with a phobia of spiders will not be able to maintain a contact for any amount of money or other reward. Some people are obsessive with their phobia. This means they can not bear to think of the stimulus and it is likely to be fully control of their lives.

Another complication is that a client may present with a fear / phobia, of flying for example. However, skilled therapist, to investigate this fear / phobia with the client, you can find fear / phobia is really about the closed, or blocked in Perhaps this may be a fear / phobia of dying, not being able of breath for an aircraft, or anything else related to the plane or leaving their area / country etc., but never actually flew himself.
